Our Goals
- To Promote and Protect Leaseholder's Rights under their Existing Timeshare Contract
- To Promote Timeshare Owner Consumer Protection Legislation for Sint Maarten
- To Promote Full Disclosure by Timeshare Management of Yearly Collections and Expenditures of AMF's
- To Promote the Adoption of the European New Directive for the Protection of Consumers in relation to Timeshare Sales
- To Provide a Forum for the Timeshare Owner to Present their Complaints as a cohesive group
- To Promote the Timeshare Industry in Sint Maarten for the Benefit of all Timeshare Owners
- To Develop a standardized Timeshare Resort rating system to provide the members a reporting system for complaints and resolution of issues.
The goals stated above are just a start. We need your input and financial support to provide this association with the needed financial means and guidance. Over the past 15 years over 300,000 timeshare units were sold in Sint Maarten, twenty five different contracts from twenty five different resorts, each with its own characteristics, each with their own individual problems. Every resort leaseholder pays an annual AMF which supports their respective resort and the local Sint Maarten economy. Where does this money go? How many resort management companies provide an annual financial report? Every timeshare owner pays a timeshare tax for each unit week of use, how is this tax utilized by the Government, what are the benefits to the timeshare leaseholder.
With this Association we plan to become the leading advocate to promote the passing of Timeshare Consumer Protection Legislation to achieve the above stated goals. We will promote the valuable resources of the timeshare owner showing the impact we make on the Sint Maarten economy each year. If we achieve our goals the entire timeshare industry in Sint Maarten will improve dramatically. The leaseholder will again have a sense of stability which is required and is missing.
We propose to present to the Sint Maarten government a plan to change the poor responses of the Sint Maarten courts and government to the present leaseholder contractual problems. At this time no one entity controls any portion of the timeshare industry.
I hope you take the time to register and Join the association. There is a small fee to join as we need your financial support as well as your physical support. The Association will and does have financial obligations. To Register the Association in Sint Maarten cost over $2000, to develop and maintain the website, to promote the association, to attain the goals of the association. The need of funds for operations of any association is a normal course of business.
Your support will enable us to fulfill our goals to provide you the leaseholder a continued viable Sint Maarten Caribbean vacation experience for years to come.
